A Type II Radio Burst Driven by a Blowout Jet on the Sun

Abstract Type II radio bursts are often associated with coronal shocks that typically driven by mass ejections (CMEs) from the Sun. Here we conduct a case study of type burst is C4.5-class flare and blowout jet, but without presence CME. The jet observed near solar disk center in extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) passbands different characteristic temperatures. Its evolution involves an initial phase ejection velocity 560 ± 87 km s −1 . Ahead front, EUV wave propagates at projected ∼403 84 stage. estimated to be ∼641 , which corresponds shock against density gradient. closely related suggesting both likely manifestation jet. starts lower than those CMEs. combination velocities yields modified ∼757 Alfvén Mach number range 1.09–1.18, implying 10%–20% larger local velocity.
